    It is deep sadness to report the line of duty death of Brother Kim D. West, Nashville Local 140. Brother West died on May 26, 2017 during back surgery for an on the job injury. Brother West was 56 years old and became a Nashville fire fighter in 1997 and was an Engineer on Truck 37-C.

    On Thursday May 25th 2017 at 6:20 pm the Westport Fire Department received a report of generator on fire at 10 Lookout Lane. When the fire department arrived firefighters found smoke coming from the attached garage with a fire in the garage. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines and were able to put out the fire before it extended the living areas of the house.

    The I-95 Southbound Bridge project started in mid April. This project could pose numerous unique challenges for the members of the New London Fire Department. A previous incident(9/1/2015) where a "Snooper Truck" failed below the surface of the bridge was handled with A-35 from the Groton side of the bridge.

    2017 Recruit Class Graduation

    The 2017 Recruit Class graduated from the Quincy Fire Academy on Thursday.  These 27 new recruits bring staffing back to levels the Quincy Fire Department hasn't seen since 2003.  These new firefighters will attend the O2X Health and Wellness training next week and start at their assignments throughout fire stations in Quincy on Saturday, May 27th.

    Westport Firefighters responded to an early morning house fire on April 24th This morning, the Westport Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 189 Cross Highway. The call came in from a trapped occupant reporting a fire in the house. The Westport Fire Department responded with all 11 firefighters and 4 officers on duty, along with Westport Police and EMS.

    Westport Firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at a commercial occupancy on Woodside Lane at 5:55 AM. Two Engine companies, the Truck Company and the Shift Commander were on the initial dispatch. Arriving companies initially staged at locked entry gates and proceeded to walk up the building to investigate the cause of the alarm.
